Memories of the Holocaust by ~Maliceah:iconMaliceah:

Treacherous reasoning
bursts apart synapses
yellowing mental pages
of past transgressions.
Ignorance escapes this
only momentarily
before exploding grey matter
hits the pages of reality.
Contorted skeletons in
black and white glossy print
Gaunt gazes of walking death
Entombed forever in vacant stares
Weeping tearless night terrors.
Awaken Society, to your doom
Our gloom is your history
Your future balances precariously
Waiting to forget.

No, I'm not a Holocaust survivor, but I feel as though my soul was there. More than anything I am concerned that history will repeat itself. Those of you who have been reading my poetry lately will note: I've been taking a word, using it in one poem, and then using it in the next, and then taking one from that poem and using it in the next, etc. So they are all linked. As are we..........
With this poem I try to create the image that the future is just waiting for the moment when we forget our past to repeat our erroneous ways. Weird, I know.

Spectacularly unsettling and disturbign use of colorful imagery. Wigged me out, has a real sense of menace. Good work. Sorry for all the superlatives, just how I feel recently.

I have come across you a lot with safrd but never got the chance to check out your stuff and now that I have I wish I had sooner. Very powerful piece, you really know how to use free verse in it's full capacity! Poetry is a wonderful way to not only express ourselves but those without a voice as well, and you have captured this voice with this poem. Excellent work.
